KENAIDAN MURPHY JOINT VENTURE MOVES TO CONSTRUCTION PHASE ON OAKVILLE STATION

Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture is proud to have received agreement to proceed to the Construction Phase of the Oakville GO Station Renovation. This vital project will deliver a more accessible, comfortable and easier-to-navigate station for the local community and customers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The project’s design is the result of a highly collaborative approach between Metrolinx, R.V. Anderson Associates Limited (RVA), and Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture. This partnership brings together operational insight, design expertise and construction knowhow to shape solutions centered on the customer experience. By building on the combined knowledge of all parties from the earliest stages, the team has identified the most effective ways to improve accessibility, comfort and connectivity within a busy, live station environment.

The Oakville GO Station project will see several innovative approaches, including increased prefabrication and offsite manufacturing, alongside new working methods and specialist equipment. Using a range of delivery methods aims to reduce the amount of work required on site, shorten construction durations, and help limit disruption for customers, the community and station operations. The improvements will support smoother trips by reducing barriers for customers using mobility devices, strollers, or luggage, and improve circulation and wayfinding. This will strengthen connections between rail, bus, cycling, pickup/dropoff and parking, while keeping safety and service reliability at the forefront.

As one of Metrolinx’s busiest stations, Oakville GO Station plays a critical role in the GTA. The project is designed to support growing ridership and deliver significantly enhanced customer experience through modern, accessible infrastructure, developed and delivered through strong partnerships and shared objectives.

Customer benefits include:

  •  More barrierfree access throughout the station, enabled by new elevators and stairs.
  • Easier, safer movement between platforms and station areas through a new accessible pedestrian bridge.
  • A more comfortable waiting experience, with upgraded platforms, canopies and shelters.
  • Smoother bustotrain transfers, supported by additional bus platforms, heated shelters and digital signage.
  • Clearer, more secure arrival options, including resurfaced parking, refreshed markings and signage, and a secured bicycle shelter.
  • More reliable station performance and improved comfort through upgrades to key architectural, mechanical and electrical systems.

Tony O’Sullivan, President, Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture, commented:

“We’re delighted to begin construction on the Oakville GO Station project—work that will make day-to-day travel easier for customers through improved accessibility, clearer connections, and more comfortable waiting areas.

Over the past 18 months, we’ve worked closely with both Metrolinx and Designer RVA to develop a program and design centered on the customer journey. As on-site work begins, KMJV will continue collaborating with Metrolinx to deliver the project safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on quality, and on minimizing disruption during construction.

By combining Kenaidan’s local rail and station experience with Murphy’s global transit expertise, we look forward to delivering a modernized station that better supports customers today and into the future.”
