Duffin Creek small RESIZED

Jointly owned by The Regional Municipalities of York and Durham, Duffin Creek WPCP is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in Pickering. This plant serves the water pollution treatment needs of Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering, and Ajax.

The scope of this project required new construction of an influent pumping station and headworks facility that includes a preliminary treatment building, biofilter building, aerated grit tanks, flow metering building, and electrical building.

Working at this operational plant requires extensive civil work and tie-ins that need to be coordinated with plant staff. Subsurface work included constructing flow control chambers, channels, site services, duct-banks, and other utility services.

This project was part of the ongoing expansion of the existing plant to 630 ML/day where Kenaidan completed the Stage 3 Influent PS as well as the Dewatering and Incineration facilities.
