Spadina-Bloor Loop

Client:  Toronto Transit Commission
Prime Consultant:  M.M. Dillon Ltd.
Value:  $18.3 million

This contract involved construction of a below-grade tunnel beneath Toronto's Bloor Street and Spadina Avenue, allowing the new Spadina LRT Streetcars to connect with the existing Spadina Station and subway system.  The cut-and-cover tunneling method was used for the 400m long tunnel. Tunnel width varied from 4m for single track rails, to 8m for double track rails and required extensive use of piling, lagging, decking and caissons.
