Ireland Park - Construction Management

Ireland Park is located on the Toronto Waterfront at Bathurst Quay on the shore of Lake Ontario. The park was built to commemorate the arrival of the immigrants fleeing the Irish Famine of 1847 and those who lost their lives.  Project work included: construction of stone masonry monuments with Irish Blue Limestone imported from Ireland; 14 piers constructed of limestone; installation of 5 life-size bronze sculptures created by well known Irish sculptor Rowan Gillespie; extensive landscaping including limestone benches for seating, a limestone walkway, and an illuminated glass tower with special effect lighting. 

The park has won the following awards: Toronto Construction Association's 2009 "Best of the Best" Award, and 2009 Toronto Urban Design Awards, Honourable Mention Small Open Space.
