The James Street North GO facility contract forms part of Metrolinx's plan to expand train services to the Hamilton area via their Lakeshore West corridor along the current CN Rail main line.

Expanding North of Stuart Street in Hamilton, the project includes construction of a new station building along with two train platforms. Access to the South and North platforms will be provided by four access towers and overpass bridges, which are fully enclosed with a curtain wall and glazing system.

The contract also includes construction of a new multi-level parking deck and surface parking lot tying into the new station building and accommodating over 300 vehicles. Construction of a new Kiss & Ride and bus loop located in close proximity to the station entrance is also part of the project scope.

This facility will be constructed to meet LEED Silver standards.
