The Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) is located in Pickering, on the northern shore of Lake Ontario. This conventional activated sludge plant provides treatment for the wastewater and sewage sludge from both the Regional Municipality of York and the Regional Municipality of Durham.
This project is part of an expansion of the existing WPCP plant to achieve a capacity of 630 ML/day. With the expansion, the WPCP plant will be able to better serve the York and Durham municipalities. There has been considerable population growth in both regions and the plant's expansion will satisfy this growth, while meeting more stringent provincially-mandated treatment regulations.
Kenaidan is involved in the construction of the new Dewatering and Incineration facilities; the dewatering building will be constructed to meet LEED Silver standards. It will be the largest LEED Certified building built at a WPCP in Ontario. This 28-month project is scheduled for completion in April 2012.

Even as a young girl, Jessica Gregg dreamed of going to the Olympics. At age five, she skated around her backyard ice rink wearing her first pair of speed skates that belonged to her mother. Now at age 22, Jessica has realized that lifelong dream and is an Olympic silver medalist.
Her parents are both former Olympians, so it's no surprise that Jessica would end up following in their footsteps. Her mother, Kathy Gregg, competed as a long-track speed skater in both the 1976 and 1980 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and Lake Placid. Her father, Randy Gregg, a former Edmonton Oilers defenceman, was on Canada's men's hockey team in Lake Placid and Calgary.

In downtown Toronto, Kenaidan has started working on a project for a first-time client, Kingsett Financial. It is located on Bloor Street West, one block west of Bay Street and is an exciting new opportunity for Kenaidan.
A main part of our contract was to remove 5 columns from the 15th floor. This was done in order to open up the space for a large boardroom for the tenant. But prior to removing the columns, a lot of preparation was needed. Column and beam supports were installed to receive the 40'+ beams on 5 column lines. Windows were temporarily removed and then replaced once the beams were installed. The beams were brought in through the windows and placed on dollies. Holes were cored through the roof to facilitate the pick point of the crane, so we could bring the beams up and onto the bracket supports at the ceiling level.
